Susannah experienced a tremendous tragedy in the death of the man that she loved and from her journey of grief and renewal came this book. For anyone that has lost someone, whether through death or divorce or other circumstances, this book will speak to your soul and begin a healing that perhaps you did not even know needed to occur. There are TRUTHS in this book, life truths that will resonate with your spirit – in some of the reading, I experienced relief that Susannah (someone) had put into words what my personal emotional tangles could not.
Throughout, the theme of renewal, the theme of finding yourself is so strong – Susannah turned to photography and the book is illustrated with her photography which adds another layer of transformation and “rightness” to all of the chapters.
Grief, Loss, Despair and the Transformation into Renewal, Self, Love – there can be nothing more impactful as an eternal cycle.
For me, issues that I thought I had squashed, buried, gotten over, ignored from my divorce came welling to the surface and I was ready to work through them and/or let them go. Susannah’s bravery and story allows us to borrow that strength until we create our own.
The magnificent culmination of “This I Know“ is that we are not alone and the answer is within us when we are ready. There are exercises and gentle suggestions throughout the book that inspire and encourage us to become active participants in healing ourselves.
At the very least, purchase “This I Know – Notes on Unraveling the Heart“. This is one of those books that we will read over and over and give away again and again.
Susannah always has e-courses and online workshops – what a marvelous gift to yourself! There are several that have upcoming registrations that have just opened – my gift to myself is going to be her Unravelling E-course.
I had originally written this review for WLH and thought it completely appropriate to share here on Shakti Womyn!
