Blessings of Autumn!
Hello Sacred Seekers … Magic Makers … and Shakti Tribe!
After the crazy eclipses of August and the busy beginning to September, I am finally starting to feel a bit of a slow down. Our weather here in Delaware is still summer, but the change is coming so I can fully embrace crispy air, pumpkins, and getting my mums for the porch.
The early eclipse season of August brought intense energies to bear upon us personally and as a collective. I have been keeping the candles lit here at MotherHouse and including prayers each and every day for those who have been tragically affected by the hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes during my morning practice and mantras. I am holding space for those recovering and encourage everyone to find a way to help, whether holding space, donating, or volunteering. Focusing energy makes us feel less helpless and also sends important sustenance to those who need it.
I have been returning daily to the Bodhisattva Vow by Lior Tsarfaty and Jennifer Berezan as a prayer, a mantra, and a focus:
“May I be a guard for those who are protectorless
A guide for those who journey on the road.
For those who wish to go across the water
May I be a boat, a raft, a bridge.
May I be an isle for those who yearn for landfall
May I be a lamp for those who long for light
For those who need a resting place, a bed
For those who live in sorrow
May I heed their cries.
May I be a wishing jewel,
the Vase of Plenty, a Word of Power
And the supreme remedy,
may I be the Tree of Miracles
And for every being, the Abundant Heart.
Like the great earth and the other elements
Enduring as the sky itself endures
For the boundless multitude of living beings
May I be the ground and vessel of their life.
For every single thing that lives in numbers
Like the boundless regions of the sky
May I be their sustenance, their nourishment
Until they pass beyond, until they pass beyond all suffering ...” listen here
Durga Puja began on September 20 and I am celebrating the Nine Nights of the Divine Mother. We can take comfort in Ma Durga who charges into battle to protect us, stand for us, and lift us up. These nine nights remind us of how New Dietwe are surrounded by the blessings of Goddess and how those blessings assist us in navigating challenges. Setting up my first Durga Puja altar (above) was great fun and a wonderful way I could honor the Shakti Goddesses who are such a big part of my heart and personal practice.
Just catching my breath and dreaming of rolling in the leaves! How about you??
