I am sitting here in the deep of the Dark Moon, the eve before Luna is new again, and contemplating the wonderful cards that have come forward for our New Moon Divination. The New Moon in Aries on Monday, March 27 at 10:57 pm eastern is a potent, activating moon and this lunation will reverberate for months to come for the intentions that you set forth now.
Aries is the beginning of the zodiac, fire and action and passion made manifest. It is excitable and spontaneous and sometimes leaps before looking. Do it NOW is the urge in the fiery Aries forward movement. With the influence of a New Moon in Aries energy, and the New Moon right after Spring Equinox, we are experiencing a special, powerful time of renewal and intention setting.
Focusing on the Self is a worthy occupation for this New Moon. How are you nourishing your development, reinforcing your foundation, and pursuing your heart’s desire? The metaphor of applying our own oxygen mask first so that you can effectively assist others resonates completely. If you are not giving your Self what it needs, how can you provide anything to others without depleting all of your own resources.
“I am the supreme and fiery force who kindled every living spark and I breathed forth no deadly thing and I am the fiery life of the essence of God- I flame above the beauty of the fields, I shine above the waters, I burn in the sun, the moon, and the stars.” ~ Hildegard Von Bingen on Sophia
Our first card for the New Moon Divination is the Gnostic Goddess Sophia. She is Wisdom (with a capital W) … the Wisdom of God … and the inner Wisdom that we all carry. She is our intuition, our higher intelligence, the potent knowing that lives within us, and the Divine Plan unfolding before us. Sophia offers us the ability to connect at higher levels and vibrations and to be an active co-creator of our lives with Her.
Through Her, we have the ability to answer the hard questions, to reveal and give voice to our unspoken wonderings and desires. She parts the veils to give us access to the understanding that resides in our cellular memories and the Akashic (ancestral and past life remembrances and records). Through the Wisdom of Sophia, we are able to experience AHA moments that expand and accelerate our spiritual intelligence and apply it to every aspect of our lives.
Hagia, Hagia, Hagia Sophia. Holy, Holy, Holy Sophia. Sophia embodies my mantra, “Make it all Holy”. Invite sacred wisdom and remembrance into your life. Invoke her fiery essence on this New Moon and allow her to breathe her wisdom into your intentions. Offer up your consecrated will to the altar of your life. Craft passion and wisdom into the utterance of your heart’s desire.
“We cannot live in a world that is not our own, in a world that is interpreted for us by others. An interpreted world is not a home. Part of the terror is to take back our own listening, to use our own voice, to see our own light.” ~ Hildegard Von Bingen (1098-1179)
Hildegard Von Bingen was a nun and mystic that brought forth Sophia in her visions, her writings. Her words ring through the centuries to inspire us this New Moon. Dig deep and find Wisdom, Sophia, within. As you are present with Sophia, She will be present with you.
The card above is The Centaur by Noa Knafo in her Visionary Cards deck. I was blown away by the imagery on the card … a female (FEMALE!) centaur with DNA helixes vibrating from her crown and out into the Universe. Journey with this image, it holds incredible activations to access the Wisdom within.
Centaurs are liminal beings, being part human and part horse. They embody the freedom and movement between the worlds represented by the horse totem. Their human part enables them to bring the magick and wisdom from spirit journeys into the here and now, the human world.
One of the most famous centaurs is Chiron, a teacher, astrologer, oracle, and healer in Greek mythology. In modern day astrology, the placement of the comet Chiron represents our “wounded healer” and understanding Chiron’s influence in our natal charts gives us information on the spiritual wounds and challenges that we have to overcome in this lifetime. Ironically, Chiron was unable to heal himself, but he provides us with the opportunity to explore how we can heal ourselves.
The female centaur’s appearance in our New Moon divination speaks to the intense spiritual implications of this lunation and its ongoing impact in the months ahead. Through this gorgeous sacred centaur, we are invited to plunge into the wells of wisdom within, to tap the information that was seeded into our souls and psyches from before birth.
Ways to connect with your inner Wisdom for this New Moon:
Craft your own New Moon Ceremony using this ritual. Be clear about what you are releasing and what you are bringing into your world. Don’t just set intentions, use the Aries forward movement to outline actions that can bring your intentions into manifested reality!
Join with friends and Sister Tribe to create New Moon circles and work on intention setting and accountability together!
Make time for meditation, prayer, ceremony, bubble baths, nature walks, journaling, poetry readings, and other activities that allow time and space for Wisdom to come and have a chat.
Dreams – keep a dream journal handy near your bed and jot notes on messages and symbols that are coming to you in dreamtime. Crystals that promote dreaming: amethyst, herkimer diamonds, green jade, kyanite (especially blue), blue apatite, picture jasper, purple jade, moonstone, clear quartz, elestial quartz, smokey quartz, scolecite, stilbite, rhodonite.
Identify the Chiron placement in your astrological chart – I am a big proponent of regular Astrology consultations and I do them several times a year. I work with Mary Lomando (Jungian Astrologer) and Audrey Alison (who uses Tarot and Astrology).
