Sweet April showers do spring May flowers. ~ Thomas Tusser
Welcome April! The sun peeked out this morning, the birds were singing up a storm, and general goodwill floated on the slightly warmer than winter breeze. I love my mornings on the front porch. Me, steaming coffee, my journal, the noisy birds, and varying layers according to the temperature. I especially love my mornings on the front porch now that the icy wind doesn’t have me dashing inside after a few bracing minutes. Within the next few weeks, I will spend my morning planning sessions all outside. Delicious!
Sacred Synchronicities came in with the card that I pulled for My Year of Sacred Living tribe – Compassion from the Change Me Prayers Oracle Deck by Tosha Silver. What a beautiful prayer for our new month!
Change me, Divine Beloved, into one who honors my emotions. Let me have my feelings without judgement and release them. May I feel deserving to say No. Show me how to be kind and loving to the child inside who needs care. I am Kind and Loving.
In your sacred pauses, consider compassion. How do you apply it to your Self? to others? I find that I am frequently more compassionate to others than I am to my Self. Compassion begins at home (that is on my mirror) and one of the Goddesses that I like to work with for Compassion is Kuan Yin. She reminds me to give love and compassion not only to others, but most especially to my Self.
I have had several requests to open a second session of A Year of Sacred Living and it’s now open for registration! We officially begin May 1, 2017 and it will run through April 2018. Monthly themes and Guiding Goddesses, plus inspirational prompts, practices, reminders, and love letters every few days are all included throughout the month. There is a private Facebook group and we gather for live calls on the Solstices and the Equinoxes. I would LOVE for you to join this new session and you can take advantage of the early bird price here (under course description)! If you sign up now, there are bonus prompts for April.
My Goddess for this month (from my Solar Return/Birthday Goddess reading) is Amaterasu, Sacred Goddess Illuminating the Sky – the Japanese Goddess of the Sun. HerStory and theme is Out of the Cave and I am on that same vibe. The meaning of her whole name, Amaterasu-ōmikami, is “the great august kami (god) who shines in the heaven”. She is the Goddess embodied as the Sun who rules the Universe and a principal deity of Japanese Shinto. The royal family of Japan is believed to directly descend from this vibrant, life-giving Goddess. She represents fertility and causes the plants to grow that give life to not only humans but to the gods as well. In HerStory, she flees to the Sky-Rock-Cave after her jerk of a brother insults her and kills one of her handmaidens. To have the Sun shut in a cave means the world begins to die. The day is saved by the Shamaness Uzume who coaxes Amaterasu out of the cave and saves the world. See the full HerStory here
After this past Winter, I am definitely coming out of my cave as well and delighting in the transition of Spring and more Sun. Did you know that this is my first real Spring in six years? South Florida barely transitions, except to get hotter than just the normal hot temps. I have been channeling Snow White a bit recently as I stalk the birds and new little flowers around the house.

Sacred sightings recently: a few tanagers (rosy orange songbirds), orchids at the Conservatory (stay tuned for that post coming), confirmations of bliss (the word was everywhere!), silver slug slime (they leave a crazy, wild silver trail)
I am happy to report that the final Christmas tree is no longer in the living room and the Spring altars are really starting to take shape. The Christmas tree almost became the Easter tree! Seriously, no judgement, who can relate?
The great seasonal altar migrations and what Goddesses end up where are always entertaining. The main altar under my Shakti hanging is usually for seasonal purposes and for Spring, Kuan Yin made a play. Moving altars usually starts with me having a vision and ends up with a completely different result and Goddess doing what She wants. As She does. Kuan Yin assumed the main altar space, Gaia and Ix Chel broke up (amicably) and each have their own spaces now, and all the Mary’s headed back to the MotherHouse altar. It’s a dynamic process. 🙂
Shakti energy has been jamming which has been helping me get caught up and facilitating some lush new offerings. Devotions of Bliss: Shakti Goddess Activations begins April 18 and you are invited to enter the temple! This is an 8 week course that includes a weekly live call (with archives) and a journey through all of my Beloved Shakti Goddesses. I even made Shakti Activation Bundles that every participant will receive by mail with a mala, crystals, and an intuitively chosen Shakti Altar card. Read more and register here
I have a feeling that my April is going to be very busy 🙂 but it is all about my BLISS, so I say bring it!
